Hollister Police Animal Care and Services has new opening hours

The Hollister Animal Care and Services announced the introduction of new hours of operation from December 4th.

Hollister Animal Care and Services hours of operation every Wednesday are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The shelter will also begin operating every first and third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., except on major holidays.

Animal Services also said it resumed admission of stray animals found in San Benito County to the shelter’s newly renovated overnight kennels on Nov. 24.

“Hollister Animal Care and Services would like to remind the public that kennels open after hours are under video surveillance at all times and are designed to temporarily house live stray animals found in San Benito County when the shelter is closed.” , the statement said. .

The statement also warned that night kennels are not designed to contain deceased animals. He added that residents should not attempt to feed or pet stray animals temporarily housed in night kennels, and not place owned animals in night kennels.

“The kept animals must be abandoned during the opening hours of the refuge, Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm,” the statement read. Please use caution when placing a stray animal found in night kennels. The kennels are self-locking and will not reopen.

He went on to say that stray admission forms are available and must be completed by the finder of the stray animal found before placing the animal in the night kennels.

Animal care and services staff will be available to assist the public in adopting animals from available shelters, impounding any stray animals found and reuniting found animals with their owners.
