Free Adoption Day at Animal Care Sanctuary | WIVT

EAST SMITHFIELD, PA – If you’re looking to adopt a new pet, this weekend is the perfect time.

The Animal Care Sanctuary is hosting their annual Free Adoption Day this Saturday, in conjunction with NBC’s Clear the Shelters.

Adult dogs, cats and kittens will all be offered for adoption and must return home the same day.

All animals are up to date with their vaccinations and are microchipped.

Animal Services Director Becca Morgan said the sanctuary is currently at full capacity, with around 40 dogs and several cats.

Morgan says lifting adoption fees is a great incentive to get animals out of the shelter and into loving homes.

“Raising adoption fees gives people the ability to adopt an animal that they might not have been able to adopt, and I know a lot of people can see that negatively, but I think everyone deserves. a pet as long as it can keep up with it. carefully, ”Morgan says.

If you aren’t able to adopt but still want to help, Morgan says the shelter still needs people to welcome animals, volunteer, donate supplies, or even just let people know about it. the shelter.

For those willing to bring a new pet home, the free adoptions will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the East Smithfield location.

Walk-in tours are accepted, but if you want to make an appointment or complete an application in advance, you can visit
