Cincinnati Animal CARE Shelter Adoption Fee Reduced to $ 9.99 for Black Friday 2021 Due to Too Many Dogs, Cincinnati News
Cincinnati Animal CARE – the Hamilton County Shelter and Humanitarian Society – has welcomed 1,249 animals since October 1.
That’s a lot of animals and they’re currently in -30 kennels, which means “there are 30 more dogs in the facility than there are places to put them,” says Cincinnati Animal Care in a press release.
“We are committed to only having one dog per kennel, but this is by far the worst it has ever been,” says Ray Anderson, manager of media and community relations at the shelter. âWe need our community to adopt in order to maintain this commitment. “
So, on Black Friday (November 26), they are offering adoptions at $ 9.99 for all pets over 6 months old. Doors open at 1 p.m. and stay open until 10 p.m.
“When we say ‘adopt, don’t buy,’ we mean it literally this year,” Anderson said in the statement. “You could line up with a bunch of people hoping to get that cheap TV or adopt your new best friend!” “
The shelter, located at 3949 Colerain Ave., Northside, is closed on Thanksgiving Day. See adoptable animals at cincinnatianimalcare.org.
And if you can’t adopt, Cincinnati Animal CARE says they’re in desperate need of foster families.
“We no longer have a kennel, we no longer have an emergency kennel, we no longer have offices, staff members are bringing dogs home. But too many animals come in and not enough leave.” , says the refuge. on a Facebook post.
They are asking people to consider adopting pets, even just over the holiday weekend, to get them out of the crowded situation. They provide supplies, support and all medical care.
