Capitol opens animal health center in Cauayan
TO ENSURE effective and efficient delivery of veterinary services, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has established the Abanse Negrense District Animal Health Center located at Barangay Poblacion in the city of Cauayan.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the inauguration with council members Jeffrey Tubola and Andrew Montelibano, and Cauayan Mayor John Rey Tabujara on Thursday, September 8.
The facility serves as the satellite center of the provincial animal learning park and hospital and the district office unit of the provincial veterinary office that will provide animal health care and related services.
The animal health center is a joint venture between the province and the municipal government.
The province facilitated the construction of the center and provided the necessary equipment while Cauayan, as a partner-local government unit (LGU), provided the land.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed to ensure the proper functioning of the centre.
Among the services that will be made available in the animal center are veterinary consultation, medical care, deworming, vitamin supplementation, laboratory tests and castration surgery.
The Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Placida Lemana also facilitated the distribution of free-range chicks, Pekin ducks, napier and trichantera planting material and veterinary drugs to farmers’ associations and breeders of Animals, Central Philippine State University – Cauayan and Sixth District LGUs.
