Adoption event taking place at Muncie Animal Care and Services

MUNCIE, Ind. – Muncie Animal Care and Services is expanding its low adoption fee event as they continue to deal with increasing numbers of animals in the shelter’s care.

Over the past month, the department has had several neglect and rescue cases that have brought the shelter’s population to nearly 400 animals. This is well beyond the normal capacity of the installation.

In order to help as many animals as possible find a home, the department changes its adoption rates for the week. The adoption rates will be as follows:

  • dogs $ 25
  • cat $ 10
  • 2 kittens for $ 10!
  • Free adoptions will be offered to first responders, active duty military and veterans, as well as those over the age of 50.
  • Pets over 7 years old and pets that have been in the facility for more than 6 months will have all adoption fees waived.

All available animals are spayed and neutered, have received age-appropriate vaccinations and tests, and come with a free welfare check-up with a participating veterinarian. All adopters during the event will also receive a gift bag made by the local Girl Scout Troop 2558 while supplies last, and enter a draw for a prize basket.

The adoption event will run from Monday August 16 through Saturday August 21 during normal shelter hours. The shelter asks adopters to bring either a leash and collar for adoptable dogs, or a carrier for adoptable cats / kittens.
